Smart Farming is an advancement in science which uses information and communication technologies for agriculture. The University of the Philippines Institute of Biology and the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute is building a nursery at UP Diliman, Quezon City. This nursery will house indigenous and endemic plants as part of the Smart Plant Production in Controlled Environments (SPICE) project, supported by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD). The establishment of this nursery is hoped to serve as a model for urban farming and a platform for plant conservation.

Construction of the nursery began last March 2, 2018 at the UP DOST-ASTI Complex, Diliman, Quezon City. More information about the groundbreaking can be found at the UP Website.
