Can diabetes drugs be used for weight loss?

Some drugs used to treat diabetes are finding success in helping people lose weight. Bariatric surgeon Dr. Kuldeep Singh, director of the Maryland Bariatric Center at Mercy Medical Center, said diabetes drugs have improved over the years at reducing blood-sugar levels and preventing strokes, heart disease and kidney disease. He said the drugs are not a replacement for proper eating habits but can be an additional tool for weight loss.
