INSTITUTE OF BIOLOGY ALUMNI OF UP DILIMAN, INC.
The Association shall have the following objectives:
1. To promote and nurture the well-being of every member and to heighten the unity of interest among the groups by providing continuing opportunities for healthy and lively interactions, exchanges of information, ideas and experiences.
2. To tap the potentials and skills of the members and their families in order to achieve common benefits and welfare.
3. To give moral and material support to projects and activities of the University in general and the Institute of Biology in particular.
4. To serve as venue for information dissemination of projects geared towards socio-economic and cultural uplift of its members and to encourage their active participation therein.
5. To conduct seminar-workshops, symposia and meetings beneficial to the field of biology.

History of UP-Institute of Biology Alumni Association
ON APRIL 7, 1991, the Institute of Biology, College of Science, University of the Philip pines in Diliman held an alumni homecoming for its graduates and also the graduates of the former Departments of Botany and Zoology.With a handful of alumni in attendance, the Constitution and By-laws of the UP Institute of Biology Alumni Association (UP-IBAA) were ratified and the members of the first Executive Board were elected. The objectives of the organization are to promote the wellbeing of members by providing opportunities for interactions and exchanges of information, ideas, and experiences; to give moral and material support to the University in general and the Institute of Biology in particular; and to serve as venue for information dissemination especially in the field of biology.

All graduates of the Institute of Biology and the former Departments of Botany and Zoology of UP Diliman are members of the UP-IBAA.Those who have formally joined the Association and have paid their annual dues are active members, qualified to vote and be elected to office in the UP-IBAA Executive Board.When the UP-IBAA was registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission in 1992, the Executive Board was renamed Board of Trustees.There were nine members in the Executive Board, eight were elected annually during the general alumni homecoming while the ninth, the Institute of Biology Director, served as ex-officio secretary The first set of officers were Dr. Rogelio O. Juliano, president; Dr. Reynaldo J. Lesaca, Jr., vice-president; Dr. Filipinas F. Natividad, IB director and ex-officio secretary; Prof. Remedios R. Roderos, treasurer; Prof.Josefina R. Guinoo, auditor; and Prof.Lourdes Magdamo, public relations officer. The other members of the board were Dr. Coralie C. Dioquino and Dr. GildaC. Rivero.
The first alumni home coming after the organization of the UP-IBAA was held on March 28, 1992 with the theme “The Role of Biology in National Development”. The speakers during the scientific seminar were Dr. Tomas P. Maramba who spoke on the “Biological Contributions to Medical Science” , Mr. Ricardo Umali on the “Biological Contributions to Natural Resource Management” and Dr. Ruben Villareal on the “Biological Contributions to Agricultural Development.” Dr. Juliano, Dr. Lesaca, Prof. Roderos and Prof. Guinoo were reelected to their former positions.Dr. Natividad as IB Director remained as secretary. Dr. Dioquino-Dimacali was elected auditor and the other board members were Dr. Virginia C. Cuevas, Dr. Medina Delmendo and Dr. Do mingo A Madulid. Scientific seminars were held during the year and a concert by John Lesaca was organized to raise funds for the Dr. Fran cisco Nemenzo Sr. Professorial Chair in Biology.Â
The second alumni homecoming was held on April 24, 1993. During the affair, an Outstanding Alumna Award was given to Dr. Venus Joaquin Cali lung and Dr. Herminio R. Rabanal was given an Honorary Membership Award. The proceeds of the fund-raising project were turned over to the Dr. Francisco Nemenzo Sr. Professorial Chair. Dr. Juliano, Dr. Lesaca, Prof. Roderos and Dr. Delmendo were reelected to their former positions. Dr.Gilda C. Rivero, IB Director, was secretary and the other board members were Dr. Natividad, Dr. Luis En riquez and Dr. Rafael Guerrero III.
The third general alum in homecoming was held on April 30, 1994. The Outstanding Alumnus Award was given to Dr. Prescillano M. Zamora and Dr. Nelia P.Cortex-Maramba was given an Honorary Membership Award. The keynote speaker was Dr. Herminio R. Rabanal. Elected were Dr. Lesaca, president; Dr. Dioquino-Dimacali, vice-president, Prof. Roderos, treasurer, Mrs.Araceli Lachica-Juliano, PRO and Dr. Delmen do, auditor. Dr. Rivero remained as secretary and the other board members were Dr. Juliano, Prof. Nerissa S. Vargas and Mrs. Cecilia Vargas-Zamora.
The fourth general alumni homecoming was held on May 30, 1995. Amendments to the Constitution were proposed and those approved by the body were the inclusion of B.S. Pre-med graduates in the UP-IBAA and the election of officers for a 3-year term. Reelected were Dr. Lesaca, and Prof. Roderos to their former posi-tions. Dr. Rivero, as IB Director, was secretary. Mr. Ricardo R. Biña was elected vice-president; Atty. Angelito W. Chua, PRO and Prof. Guinoo, auditor. The other members of the board were Dr. Virginia S. Cariño, Dr. Juliano, Prof. Vargas and Dr. Paz D. Santiago.Â

The fifth general alumni homecoming was held on June 8, 1996. The Outstanding Alumni awardees were Dr. Arsenio S. Camacho of UP Visayas and Dr. Domingo A. Madulid of the National Museum. Dr. Lesaca, Mr. Biña and Prof. Roderos were reelected to their former positions. Dr. Miguel D. Fortes was elected PRO and Mrs.Cristina A. Austria, auditor. Dr. Rivero was secretary and the other board members were Dr. Cariño, Dr. Juliano, Prof. Vargas and Atty. Chua.
The sixth general alumni homecoming was held on April 20, 1997. There were slide presentations on Puerto Galera by Dr. Virginia S. Carino and Dr. Miguel D. Fortes. The reelected president was Dr. Lesaca who did not finish his term and was replaced by Mrs.Austria. Reelected also were Mr. Bina, Prof. Roderos and Dr. Fortes, Dr. Car-iño, Atty. Chua, Dr. Juliano, and Prof.Vargas to their former positions. Dr. Rivero and Dr. Nellie C. Lopez served as secretary during their respective terms as TB Director. Mrs. Austria was replaced as auditor by Prof. Guinoo.

The seventh general alumni homecoming was held on April 27, 2002. Class 1952, 1962 and 1977 were honored as Golden, Ruby and Silver Jubilarians, respectively. Elected wereMrs. Austria, president; Mrs. Josefina M. Biña, vice-president, Dr., Prof. Rode-ros, treasurer; Mrs. Irma R. Castro, auditor, and Dr. Edna G. Fortes, PRO. Dr.Roberto C. Pagulayan as IB Director was secretary. The board members were Dr. Cariño, Dr. Juliano, Dr. Edna A. Amparado, Dr. Ma. Luisa Cuvin-Aralar, Mrs. Delsie Abrigo-Horak and Dr. Lilian B. Ungson. Various activities were undertaken such as tree-planting clean-up drive, medical missions and fund solicitations from the alumni for the IB.
The eighth general alumni homecoming was held on June 11, 2005. Dr.Gloria Enriquez-Ongchanco was the guest speaker and Dr. Roberto C. Pagu-layan presented “The IB Today”. Elected officers were Mrs. Biña, President; Dr. Gloria Quitco-Caccam, Vice-president; Prof. Roderos, treasurer; Mrs. Irma R. Castro, auditor and Dr. Sonia D. Ja-cinto, PRO. Dr. PerryS. Ong, as IB direc-tor, was secretary.The other board members were Dr.Amparado, Dr. Ar alar, Mrs.Austria,Dr. Ungson, Mrs. Corazon R. Dayrit, and Dr Windell L. Rivera.
