DENR-BMB gave posthumous award to Dr. Perry Ong for his invaluable contribution to the conservation of the Philippines’ wild flora and fauna.

During World Wildlife Day last 3 March 2023, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Biodiversity Management Bureau honored several individuals who made major contributions for the conservation of Philippine fauna and flora. One of these awards is a posthumous award to the late UPD College of Science Dean Perry S. Ong “for his outstanding contribution to science and research, and his commitment in providing guidance in pursuing the duties and responsibilities of the Philippine Red List Committee for Wild fauna. His passion for Philippine wildlife conservation has made him a leader in his field and an inspiration to the future generation of Filipino scientists and conservationists.”

Dr. Ian Fontanilla received the award on behalf of Dr. Perry Ong’s family and UP Diliman.
