Mammalian Morphogenesis Laboratory

Mammalian Morphogenesis Laboratory_Thumbnail

The research thrust of the Mammalian Morphogenesis Laboratory is focused on the investigation of the developmental processes and the regulatory mechanisms during mammalian embryogenesis using primarily mouse (Mus musculus) models. Currently, the lab is focused on researches involving androgen signaling, sexual dimorphism, and overall morphogenesis of the embryonic urethra and external genitalia. One of our key interests is on how cellular behaviors can contribute to changes at the level of the tissue or organ. Furthermore, we are exploring how disruption in these processes due to environmental factors, such as endocrine disrupting chemicals, can lead to the onset of congenital anomalies involved in Disorders of Sex Development (DSD).

Our funding sources include the Natural Science Research Institute (NSRI), Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development (OVCRD) Outright Grant, and the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) Balik-PhD Grant.
