November 21, 2016 — Tentative Schedule of Graduate Placement Exam (GPE) and interview of graduate applicants for 2nd Semester 2016-2017 intake:

For MS in Biology applicants, the GPE will consist of 50 items in each of the following areas (total of 250 items): (1) Cell and Molecular Biology, (2) Ecology and Systematics, (3) Genetics, (4) Animal and Plant Physiology, and (5) Animal and Plant Developmental Biology. For PhD in Biology applicants, the GPE will consist of 50 items in each of six areas (total of 300 items): the five areas already mentioned and Microbiology. For MS in Microbiology applicants, the GPE will consist of 50 items in each of the following areas (total of 150 items): (1) Cell and Molecular Biology, (2) Genetics, and (3) Microbiology.

Applicants to the PhD by Research Program are not required to take the GPE. They must, however, give a 15-minute presentation of their proposed research topic to be followed by an interview on 21 November 2016.
